Part 3 Tölzer Land

The outskirts of Munich with the nearby Alps offer wonderful opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and other types of Alpine sports in summer. Whether it's your starting place, destination or just a place to take a break, the beautiful cabin restaurants offer a breathtaking panoramic view of the mountains and are always worth a stop. In the following three-part series, we present the loveliest excursion destinations according to region:

Part 3: Tölzer Land – Body and Spirit Find Harmony with Nature

The area between the Isar and Loisach rivers is called the Tölzer Land. It welcomes hikers, mountain bikers, mountain climbers and sports enthusiasts with the picturesque landscapes of the Karwendel mountains and the Isarwinkel, and the famous spa towns of Bad Tölz and Bad Heilbrunn. Visitors await family-friendly paths along the rivers and lakes, healthy climate tours and adventurous routes along the summits, such as the Brauneck or the Schafreuter.
The region is only about 60 kilometers from Munich and quickly reached by car on the A8 toward Salzburg or by train (Bayerische Oberlandbahn (BOB) line towards Lenggries). Numerous mountaintop inns with unparalleled views offer a variety of wonderful destinations for day trips.
