Finally, it’s here again! Bauma once again opens its doors from April 8—14 to interested visitors from Munich and the surrounding region. The trade fair takes place every three years on the exhibition grounds of the Bavarian capital. Over 3,500 exhibitors from 55 countries and their impressive construction machinery on an area the size of almost 90 soccer pitches make for a captivating attraction for young and old alike. For example, this year there will be a hydraulic excavator the size of a single-family house to admire and a crawler crane that weighs as much as 25 aircraft. The organizers say that around 600 heavy goods vehicles and thousands of trucks have been traveling the freeways in recent weeks to set up the huge vehicle fleet featuring large mining vehicles, crawler cranes and also hydraulic excavators.
As well as the range of construction equipment and machines on display, there will of course also be plenty of information and talks covering a wide variety of construction industry topics. Naturally, networked machines, electric drives, and automated processes feature heavily as topics at this year’s Bauma, as they do in many other sectors. Sustainability, electric mobility, autonomous driving, and virtual reality are among the other exciting topics that set the stage for a fascinating trade fair visit for the whole family. There will be something for every culinary taste with around 50 restaurants, bistros, day bars, and snack bars in the halls and in the open-air grounds. Opening hours: Monday—Friday 9:30 AM through 6:30 PM; Saturday: 8:30 AM through 6:30 PM; Sunday: 9:30 AM through 4:30 PM. A day ticket purchased on the day costs EUR 35. The exhibition grounds are located directly on the A 94 freeway on Munich’s east side. If you are traveling by car, the organizers strongly recommend that you follow the dynamic traffic guidance system set up there. The U2 subway line takes you directly to the Messestadt West and Messestadt Ost stops. You can also take the S-Bahn commuter train to Bauma. Take the S2 line to the Riem stop. From there, bus line 190 will take you to Messestadt West.
