The Munich metropolitan region as a great place to live: Vaterstetten

The metropolis of Munich has a lot to offer, but there's also plenty to discover and experience in the neighborhoods and the regions around Munich's city center. As part of our "Munich as a Great Place to Live" series, we show you different things to do in your time off, whether they be part of nature, culture, sports, or entertainment. This month we would like to introduce some free time offerings in the community of Vaterstetten, east of Munich:

Outings with animals

The Reitsberger riding school in Vaterstetten is a popular stop for families from Munich and nearby. It is particularly suited for beginners ages 10 and up, but also offers pony rides for younger equestrians. In addition, riding courses are available for late beginners as well as for anyone wanting to refresh their skills. The Reitsberger riding school is well worth a visit for horse fans of all ages.

Highlights: Special courses and programs are available for beginners and those wanting to refresh their skills.

Feast like a king

Located right next to the riding school is its very own restaurant, Zur Landlust. The family-run restaurant offers a wide range of delicious treats as well as an alternating daily and lunch menu. The bar serves beer specialties from the Reutberg brewery, located in Sachsenkam. Only regional and seasonal products are used in the dishes here. Right outside of this rustically decorated establishment is the beer garden, which is perfect for warm autumn days.

Highlights: In front of the restaurant, guests can enjoy a traditional nine-pin bowling alley as well as a Scandinavian grill hut. These can be rented for special occasions.

Stay active

TSV Vaterstetten in Vaterstetten is the biggest sports club in the district of Ebersberg. The club consists of over 13 sports departments, each with highly trained coaches and staff. From children’s gymnastics and swimming to badminton, track and field, fitness and basketball, everyone will find just the right activity. The Sport-Club Baldham-Vaterstetten e.V. has a number of teams and training programs for soccer and (table) tennis fans. You can even play minigolf in Vaterstetten. Edi's Spielewelt is located right next to the Vaterstetten sports field.

Highlights: People of all ages will enjoy Vaterstetten’s wide range of sports activities.

Go wild

Kids are invited to really let loose at Jux & Tollerei in Parsdorf, north of Vaterstetten. The 2,500 m2 facility features a number of attractions, such as a wave slide, trampolines, a climbing tower, an indoor soccer field, a bouncy castle, go-kart track and more. A range of special packets are available for events such as birthday parties, school trips, family outings and corporate gatherings.

Highlights: Admission is reduced after 5:00 p.m. every day.

Achieve great heights

The Münchner Wald is a special Vaterstetten highlight for fans of climbing. At Kletterwald Vaterstetten, 10,000 square meters of excitement – including as a “Flying Fox” course with a total of seven cable cars, a 14-meter-long juggle bridge and a partner course – await climbing fans. The Kletterwald offers 13 varied courses as high as 14 meters. Beginners will enjoy the easier course starting at just 1 meter from the ground.

Highlights: There are special offers for corporate gatherings, birthday parties and hiking excursions.

Vaterstetten is easy to reach from Munich’s city center. The commuter train will take you from Munich's Ostbahnhof station to the “Vaterstetten” commuter train station in only 16 minutes, and it takes just 21 minutes from Marienplatz. We wish you plenty of enjoyment as you discover this multifaceted community.
